SPECIFICATION:
The superb photographs in this large format volume are of important sculpture and cave temple art. Most of the plates are full page, and many are in colour. They are the work of Chinese photographers who draw their material – in addition to the museum objects – from such diverse locations as the Sinkiang Uighur Autonomous Region, Run-huang, Ping-ling-ssu, Maichishan, Yun-kang, Kiung-hsien, and Lung-men. The volue is enhanced by the inclusion of little known Tibetan Buddhist art from the Tibet Autonomous Region. The text has been written by Professors Terukazu Akiyama and Suburo Matsubara, two of Japan’s foremost scholars in the field.
